LA CROSSE, WI. – Rebecca Cooke is once again trying to reinvent herself for Wisconsin voters.

Cooke now claims she wants to protect Wisconsin farmland from foreign nationals. That would be more believable if she wasn’t simultaneously touting the support of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), an organization whose broader funding network has been linked to the CCP.

A 2025 State Armor investigation reported that Energy Foundation China has provided millions of dollars to American environmental organizations, including NRDC. The report also highlighted a previous congressional inquiry into NRDC over concerns surrounding Chinese funding.

In March 2026, the Center Square described the NRDC as a “a group heavily tied to China with everything from a Beijing office to employees who came to NRDC from the Chinese government. The group supports a fracking ban, opposes the Line 5 pipeline that stretches across Wisconsin and it supports the Green New Deal.”

Now Cooke wants Wisconsin farmers to believe she is suddenly the toughest person in the race on foreign influence.

“Rebecca Cooke is desperately trying to erase her record and rewrite her history with Wisconsin voters. Her latest statement on farmland is another attempt to conceal the positions and political alliances she knows are out of step with Wisconsin.”Grace Kim, Campaign Spox
