In her latest ad, 3rd CD Dem Rebecca Cooke says she’ll fight for a data center development moratorium.
The ad will run on broadcast and cable in the La Crosse, Wausau, Madison and Minneapolis media markets and on streaming and social media platforms district-wide, Cooke’s campaign said.
If Cooke wins Tuesday’s Dem primary, she will be in a rematch with western Wisconsin Congressman Derrick Van Orden, R-Prairie du Chien. Cooke narrowly lost to Van Orden in 2024.
The 30 second spot begins with Michael Lawler from Menomonie, who introduces himself as being part of a group fighting against data centers.

“Derrick Van Orden sold us out. He voted to make it easier for billionaires to take our land, raise utility rates and build data centers without guardrails,” Lawler says.
Cooke is running against former Eau Claire City Council President Emily Berge in Tuesday’s Dem primary.
“Rebecca Cooke fights for working families; she’s the only Democrat tough enough to take on these billionaires and corporations,” Lawler says.
The ad also touts an endorsement of Cooke from U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont.
“I’ll fight for a moratorium on data centers because our communities deserve leaders who don’t sell them out,” Cooke says to end the ad.
