MEQUON, Wis., August 12, 2026 — The Associated Press has called the Democratic primary for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District for Brad Smith, making Smith the Democratic nominee who will face incumbent Congressman Glenn Grothman in the November general election.
Nearly 70,000 voters participated in the Democratic primary, an unprecedented turnout demonstrating extraordinary energy and the growing demand for Democratic representation in Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District.
“I am honored to be the Democratic nominee for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District. I want to thank the poll workers and election officials who worked tirelessly to make sure every vote was counted, Amanda Bell for running a strong campaign, and every voter, volunteer and supporter who put their time, energy and trust into this race. The turnout we saw shows that people across this district are ready for change. Now it’s time to come together, build on that energy and win in November,” Smith said.
Smith will face Grothman, who has represented the district since 2015, in the November 3 general election.
