WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 17, 2026) — New Politics today endorsed Mitchell Berman for U.S. Congress in Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District. Berman is an emergency room nurse who spent over a decade caring for veterans, active duty servicemembers, and their families at the VA.
Emily Cherniack, Founder and Executive Director of New Politics, released the following statement:
“Mitchell Berman has spent his life taking care of the people that other folks overlook. He grew up in rural Wisconsin and put himself through college working three jobs before becoming a nurse where he has spent more than a decade caring for veterans and military families at the VA. Mitchell’s servant leadership and commitment to putting others first is what the people of Wisconsin deserve in Congress. New Politics is honored to stand behind his campaign.”
Following Berman’s primary victory last week, his campaign released general election polling showing a dead heat in the race for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, with Berman trailing incumbent Republican Bryan Steil by only one point.
