MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Wisconsin Democrats concluded their 19-stop, 5-day “Forward for Wisconsin” tour during which Democratic leaders, including special guests Gov. Tony Evers and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, barnstormed the state to get voters fired up to elect David Crowley as Wisconsin’s next governor. Following new polling that shows David Crowley leading Tiffany by four points, Wisconsinites are showing that they are ready to come out in force to defeat MAGA extremist Tom Tiffany come November.

Godlewski, who won the nomination in an uncontested primary and introduced Crowley, said national politics are a “clear distinction from that guy, Tom Tiffany, who is an election denier, career politician who only cares about the wealthy and corporations.”

“That’s not who Wisconsin is, and that’s not who we are going to elect this November,” Godlewski said.

Crowley said the support — from thousands of people across the state — reflects the stakes of the race. He pitched his record of balancing budgets, cutting property taxes and expanding affordable housing.

Crowley, who serves as Milwaukee County Executive, said local input is central to his governing approach.

“We have not allowed people to lend their voices, their lived experiences, to the solutions that are going to work for them and in their community,” Crowley said. “What I’ve learned, being Milwaukee County Executive, representing 19 different municipalities, is that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. We have to tailor all of our solutions to fit each community needs.”

Wisconsin State Journal: David Crowley Calls Tom Tiffany a ‘Lapdog’ for Trump

David Crowley and Sarah Godlewski, Democratic nominees to be Wisconsin governor and lieutenant governor, respectively, looked to tie Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Tiffany to President Donald Trump, criticizing the congressman’s voting record as conforming to Trump.

And in an interview with the Press-Gazette, Crowley framed Tiffany as contributing to the country’s rising costs that many Americans see as one of the nation’s biggest problems. Crowley attributed Tiffany’s previous comments about Milwaukee County’s deficit under Crowley’s leadership as “pointing to a record because he doesn’t have one.”

“When you think about this particular congressional member, I mean, quite frankly, he’s done nothing for the people he represents,” Crowley told the Press-Gazette.

Crowley said the visit to Eau Claire was his 12th stop in three days. He thanked his opponents in the primary race, and thanked Gov. Tony Evers for guiding the state for the past eight years.

“Local communities should be able to make their own decisions,” Crowley said. Crowley talked about how politics is a “full contact sport,” and that he needs a Democrat-led Legislature to accomplish his priorities.

Crowley had already campaigned in La Crosse just before Tuesday’s primary, with a weekend rally at the Concordia Ballroom. At the Friday event on Pearl Street downtown, Crowley claimed that Tom Tiffany, his Republican opponent this November, would be Wisconsin’s worst governor ever.

Crowley’s running mate, lieutenant governor nominee Sarah Godlewski, called Crowley her “work bestie,” and described some of the positions of Tiffany as “scary.”

Milwaukee Courier: Exclusive: Gretchen Whitmer on Campaigning for David Crowley in Wisconsin

“We’re all unifying and working together. We know the ultimate opponent is whether or not we’re going to have someone who wants to be a rubber stamp for the Trump administration.”

“Whether you’re a Wisconsinite or Michigander, we’re all paying more because of tariffs, we’re all paying more because of the Iran war. It is a governor’s race or Democratic U.S. senator that is going to push back and fight for common ground and problem solving. At this moment, it is more important than ever that we coalesce around leaders who actually care about people, who want to help us keep more money in our pockets and who are going to stay focused on helping the average person get ahead.”
