EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. — Three additional unions – United Auto Workers Region 4, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1310, and the Northern Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters  – announced their support for Rebecca Cooke, who’s running to fight for economic opportunity for working people and against giveaways to billionaires. 19 Wisconsin labor unions have now endorsed Cooke’s campaign.

“The UAW is proud to endorse Rebecca Cooke for Congress in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District,” said Brandon W. Campbell, Director, United Auto Workers Region 4. West central Wisconsin’s working families are getting squeezed — by corporate greed, reckless tariffs, and a Congressman who has turned his back on them at every turn. Rebecca Cooke is a fighter. She’s a waitress, a farmer’s daughter, and a sixth-generation Wisconsinite who knows what it means to work for a living. UAW members don’t need another politician who talks about workers — we need someone who will go to Washington and fight like hell for us. Rebecca Cooke is that person, and we are all in for her.”

“ATU Local 1310 congratulates Rebecca Cooke on her victory in the Democratic Primary for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional district,” said Adam Nelson, President of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1310. “Rebecca has demonstrated that she understands the challenges facing working families across western Wisconsin and the importance of protecting good-paying jobs, strengthening public transportation, and ensuring workers have a voice in the decisions that affect their livelihoods. ATU Local 1310 is proud to stand with Rebecca, and we look forward to supporting her as she takes the next step towards representing Wisconsin’s 3rd District in Congress.”

“West central Wisconsin was built by working people — carpenters, tradespeople, union members who showed up every day and put in the work, ” said Tom Lutz, Executive Secretary Treasurer, Northern Midwest Carpenters. Rebecca Cooke understands that, because she’s lived it. She knows what it means to work hard, to struggle to make ends meet, and to fight for something better. The Carpenters are proud to endorse Rebecca Cooke for Congress because she’ll go to Washington and stand up for the workers who build and sustain our communities — not the billionaires trying to tear them apart.”

“The biggest divide in our politics right now isn’t party, but whether you stand with everyday, hardworking people or with billionaires making record profits off the backs of their workers,” said Rebecca Cooke. “I’m proud to have the support of these three unions here in Wisconsin. That’s why I’m running to stand up to the Washington elites who stopped caring about what happened to everyday people a long time ago. We’re building a big tent so we can raise wages, fight for good-paying jobs you can raise a family on, and make health care affordable.”

This latest endorsement adds strength to Rebecca’s labor backing, bringing her total number of union endorsements to 19 across the state. Rebecca is also endorsed by the United Steelworkers District 7, WI AFL-CIO, Wisconsin Education Association Council, American Postal Workers Union of Wisconsin, Iron Workers Locals 383 and 512, the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the Wisconsin State Council of Machinists, AFSCME, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Councils 7 & 82, Office and Professional Employees International Union, Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation (SMART) Union, UFCW Local 1473, Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council, SEIU Wisconsin and IBEW State Conference. She’s also earned the support of a big tent of farmers, small business owners, educators and healthcare workers across west central Wisconsin.
