GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved death that occurred in the City of Green Bay, Wis. on the afternoon of Friday, August 21, 2026.
At approximately 3:09 p.m. Friday, Green Bay Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Boland Road in Green Bay for a welfare check. Upon law enforcement’s arrival at the residence, the subject brandished a firearm. Three officers discharged their firearms, and the subject was struck by law enforcement gunfire.
EMS was contacted and life saving measures were rendered on the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. No members of law enforcement or other members of the public were injured during this incident.
The involved law enforcement officers were wearing body-worn cameras during the incident, and will be placed on administrative leave, per the agency’s policy.

DCI is leading this investigation and is assisted by a DCI Crime Response Specialist, Wisconsin State Patrol, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
Involved law enforcement is fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation. DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over the investigative reports to the Brown County District Attorney’s office when the investigation concludes.
