KENOSHA, Wis. — Today, David Crowley, Democratic nominee for governor, hosted a roundtable at the Kenosha Union Club with State Rep. Tip McGuire and union leaders to discuss his plans to make life better for labor and more affordable for working class families across Wisconsin. Crowley’s pro-worker agenda includes restoring collective bargaining, supporting guaranteed wages, raising the minimum wage, and allowing labor unions to negotiate project labor agreements so workers can access fair pay, benefits, and working conditions. 

“My father was a master electrician and my mother was a Jane-of-all-trades. I saw firsthand what a union job can mean: a good wage, a safe workplace, and enough financial security to support a family,” said County Executive Crowley. “Despite all this, labor unions have been sold out and used as a punching bag for decades. Wages slashed, jobs shipped overseas, and giant corporations holding all the cards when it comes to negotiating fair wages and benefits. Meanwhile, my MAGA extremist opponent Congressman Tom Tiffany thinks union workers are all ‘special interests’ and ‘kingpins.’ At the same time, Congressman Tiffany is giving massive tax breaks to billionaires, paid for with money that should be coming back to working Wisconsinites when everything from gas to groceries to utilities is more expensive.”

Crowley was raised in a union household. As County Executive, David Crowley created tens of thousands of union-backed jobs, expanded access to apprenticeship opportunities for young people, and supported fair wages and benefits for working people across the community.

As governor, Crowley will restore full collective bargaining rights for public sector workers, stand firmly with unions, and protect workers’ right to organize, bargain, and strike without fear of retaliation. David will also expand career opportunities by increasing apprenticeship and trade school opportunities in both emerging technologies and in-demand trades like plumbers, electricians, and carpenters.

Crowley has received overwhelming support from Wisconsin’s labor organizations made up of thousands of hard-working union members. Meanwhile, Congressman Tiffany has spent nearly 20 years building his anti-worker record.
