A Better Wisconsin Together: MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany’s record on public education and support for Wisconsin kids flunks out on first day back to school

MADISON, Wis. —As kids across Wisconsin head back to school, parents have been feeling the pinch as the trade wars, foreign wars, and MAGA agenda that Congressman Tom Tiffany supports have increased costs across the board, including back to school supplies. But it doesn’t end there with Tiffany. A review of the longtime MAGA politician’s record shows he’s been voting against our kids and schools for years, oftentimes to benefit himself and his ultra-wealthy patrons.

“With longtime politicians like Congressman Tom Tiffany, you have to watch what they’ve done, not listen to their mealy-mouthed campaign platitudes,” said A Better Wisconsin Together spokesperson Mike Browne. “And Congressman Tiffany’s record shows he can’t be trusted to support our kids or our public schools.”

Among the right-wing agenda policies Tiffany has voted for or supported that hurt our kids and public schools are:

• Voting for the largest cuts to public education in state history;
• Taking money away from K-12 public schools and instead sending it to less accountable private voucher schools;
• Pledging support to an organization whose agenda includes banning books and censoring what is taught in schools; 
• Voting against bipartisan legislation to increase access and funding for mental health services, including in schools;
• Sponsoring legislation to eliminate the federal Department of Education;
• Voting for massive cuts to the Universities of Wisconsin System and technical colleges; and
• Cutting funding for nutrition assistance for kids as part of a massive tax giveaway to the ultra-wealthy and corporations.

Browne also pointed to what Tiffany has not done to support kids. When the U.S. House of Representatives passed a major online safety bill that included stricter privacy, age verification, and AI safety mandates for children – the Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act – in June, Tiffany was a no-show, recorded as not voting.
