LA CROSSE, WI. – Rebecca Cooke declined today an invitation to debate Congressman Derrick Van Orden, despite spending months saying she was eager to debate him.
On July 24, Wisconsin Firearm Owners invited both candidates to participate in a one-hour debate focused on the issues facing rural Wisconsin. Congressman Van Orden accepted
Rob Kovach, president of Wisconsin Firearm Owners, told Spectrum News that the organization intended to select “fair and independent media moderators” to ask the candidates questions.
The proposed debate would have given both candidates equal time, the same rules, independent moderators and an opportunity to answer questions about the issues facing rural Wisconsin.
