MILWAUKEE, WI — Forward Latino today condemned the White House for releasing arcade-style video games that turn immigration enforcement and deportation into entertainment, including Rio Run, where players pursue migrants and earn points connected to deportations, and Build the Wall, which portrays migrants approaching the southern border as a threatening mass.
“Immigration policy and border security are legitimate subjects of debate, but human beings are not characters in a video game,” said Darryl Morin, National President of Forward Latino. “Arrest is not entertainment. Detention is not entertainment. Deportation is not entertainment. The White House should represent the highest ideals of our nation, not turn the suffering of human beings into a game that diminishes the value of human life.”
Morin said Americans can support enforcement of immigration laws while demanding that government respect due process, equal justice and human dignity. “This continued disregard for our nation’s founding principles and the value of human life has led to increase of acts of hate against immigrants and U.S. Citizens alike,” Morin added.
Morin also called on Americans of faith to reject rhetoric that diminishes the dignity of human life.

Forward Latino called upon the White House to remove the immigration-themed games.
“This is morally reprehensible,” Morin concluded. “America does not have to choose between the rule of law and the defense of human dignity. A nation committed to equal justice under the law must defend both.”
