MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Today, David Crowley, Democratic nominee for governor, released a statement in honor of Labor Day.

“This Labor Day, we honor the workers who keep Wisconsin moving forward.

As a proud husband, father to three daughters, and son of a master electrician, I know firsthand that a good job with a fair salary creates the financial security to take care of your family, put down roots in your community, and look toward the future with confidence.

“For generations, Wisconsin workers have been organizing and standing together, fighting for a seat at the table. But from the factory floor to the classroom, from our hospitals and construction sites to our farms, working people, who are the backbone of our economy and the foundation of our communities, have been used as a punching bag for decades. The guarantee of good wages and benefits, safer workplaces, and the dignity that comes with a stable job has been whittled away by giant corporations holding all the cards.

“I’ve been meeting with union leaders, farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses, and they’re all telling me the same thing: MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany and Donald Trump’s economy are not working for them or their communities. Record high gas prices, groceries and healthcare costs feel more unaffordable each day. While Wisconsin families struggle, these two have been hard at work to deliver massive tax cuts for big tech billionaires and corporate interests.

“Working people deserve a governor who is going to make their lives easier—that means the right to organize, more affordable housing, cracking down on corporate interests, bringing down healthcare costs, and expanding apprenticeship and technical training programs so it doesn’t take a four-year degree to get a good paying job. These aren’t handouts—they’re what every working Wisconsinite deserves to have a chance at a good life.
