WAUSAU, WI – Yesterday, Tom Tiffany took aim at David Crowley for giving prison inmates free tablets, which have been used to intimidate witnesses and access child pornography. 

This tablet scandal is only one part of Crowley’s soft-on-crime record and promise to turn Wisconsin into a sanctuary for illegal aliens. If he became governor, Crowley has: 

  • Said he doesn’t see “any scenario where we would want to partner with ICE.” 
  • Said he would support Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office policy of not honoring ICE detainers or assisting federal immigration officials. 
  • Said he would give illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, in-state subsidized college tuition, and prevent law enforcement from asking about immigration status.
  • Said he would not just be an ally, but an accomplice to illegal immigrants.
  • Said he would direct state government agencies not to work with federal immigration authorities.
  • Said sheriffs should not honor immigration detainers.
  • Said we must abolish ICE.

“David Crowley has always put criminals first, and that includes criminal illegal immigrants. He has said he would not just be an ally, but an accomplice to illegal immigrants. His agenda includes blocking cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and giving illegal immigrants driver’s licenses and taxpayer-subsidized college tuition. Wisconsin families should come first. We should not reward illegal immigration while tying the hands of the men and women in law enforcement,” said Tom Tiffany.

This past session of the State Legislature, David Crowley used resources in Milwaukee County to lobby state lawmakers for legislation creating taxpayer-funded grants for organizations that provide immigration legal services, including to illegal immigrants. Milwaukee County registered its support for 2025 Assembly Bill 475, a proposal to use taxpayer dollars to fund organizations providing immigration-related civil legal services.

The legislation was introduced by Democratic Socialist Ryan Clancy and cosponsored by Crowley’s former Democratic primary opponent Francesca Hong. Under the proposal, $300,000 would be appropriated annually for legal services that must be provided “without regard to the client’s immigration status.” In other words, people in the country illegally would receive legal assistance funded by Wisconsin taxpayers.

“When I become governor, Wisconsin taxpayers will not be forced to fund benefits for illegal immigrants. David Crowley wants to take Milwaukee County’s immigration policies statewide and turn Wisconsin into a sanctuary state. I won’t let that happen. As governor, I’ll ensure state and local law enforcement work with federal authorities to remove criminal illegal immigrants and keep our communities safe,” said Tom Tiffany.
