MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Today, County Executive David Crowley announced his opposition to the proposed BECI 765 kV Transmission Line Project in the Driftless Region, following widespread concerns raised by residents, local leaders, and communities across the area.
“Wisconsin needs a reliable, affordable, and clean energy future, but that future cannot come at the expense of our local communities or the Driftless Region as a whole. That’s why I oppose the proposed 765 line in its current form, and why Wisconsin must fully consider less disruptive alternatives before moving forward. Residents, families, and farmers deserve a meaningful voice in this process, and any project of this scale must demonstrate clear public benefits and community buy-in before regulators give it the green light. As governor, I will bring people together to strengthen Wisconsin’s electric grid, lower utilities costs, and protect the land, communities, and way of life that make our state special.”
