MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Rep. Mark Pocan, Rep. Gwen Moore, and Democratic nominee for Wisconsin’s First Congressional District Mitchell Berman held a press conference to discuss Bryan Steil’s corruption and the importance of electing Mitchell Berman to Congress to fight corruption in Washington.

Rep. Mark Pocan: “There is a bill before Congress that was a bipartisan bill that’s had 190+ of us sign a discharge petition to force a vote that would have banned members of Congress from owning [and] purchasing stock, to stop family members of members of Congress from purchasing stock, and would have stopped the executive branch from purchasing stock. The problem is that [that] bill, as strong as it was, [the] Republican majority did not want. They got Bryan Steil to introduce a fake Congressional stock ban. […] Bryan Steil came forward and didn’t drain the swamp, but he just dug it a little deeper.”

Rep. Gwen Moore: “[Bryan Steil] is the chairman of the subcommittee on cryptocurrency. In his position as chairman, Bryan Steil was supposed to be the leading voice on putting guardrails on cryptocurrency regulation and trade. But meanwhile, Donald Trump has enriched himself by $1.2 billion just last year through cryptocurrency, and Bryan Steil could pass legislation that prevents the President from enriching himself […] but he refuses to do so.”

Mitchell Berman: “We have to understand one thing: Bryan Steil is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s counting on you taking him at his word and not actually looking up how he votes. But let me tell you—talk is cheap. And so, you know, Bryan Steil has voted with his party 100% of the time, against the interests of working and middle class people here in the First District. […] As we stand here in Wisconsin’s First Congressional District, and meanwhile, Bryan Steil is rubbing elbows with his elite D.C. buddies down in Texas for the Republican midterm convention.”
