The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition (DVC) is excited to announce September 14-18, 2026, has officially been proclaimed Disability Voting Rights Week in Wisconsin. Disability Voting Rights Week is a national, nonpartisan initiative to build the power of the disability vote and increase awareness of voting rights. DVC and our partners work year-round to educate voters with disabilities and our communities about voting rights and accessibility and to increase participation in the electoral process.

“Voting is an essential part of fully belonging and participating in our communities. We are excited to join with the Wisconsin disability community to highlight the importance of voting to exercise our rights and make our voices heard,” said Jenny Price, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities.

As a part of the celebration of Disability Voting Rights Week, the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition will host a webinar on Thursday, September 17, at 12:00PM, focused on voting rights and accessibility for voters with disabilities, as well as what Wisconsin voters will find on their ballot for the November 3 election. The webinar is open to the public but registration is required.

Jill Jacklitz, Executive Director of Disability Rights Wisconsin, shared, “The credo of the disability community, ‘Nothing about us without us!’, includes voting. It is important to make sure our polling places, electoral systems, and information about elections are all accessible.”

The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition, its member organizations, and its partners will also be celebrating Disability Voting Rights Week by sharing messaging and resources via social media. DVC also welcomes the opportunity to provide presentations, resources, and materials to interested groups, or be a resource to election officials, media, elected officials, or other stakeholders; requests can be made to info@disabilityvote.org.
