MILWAUKEE, Wis. – This week, David Crowley and Sarah Godlewski will travel across Wisconsin to meet with farmers and working Wisconsinites to discuss the impact of record-high gas and diesel costs being driven by MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany’s and Donald Trump’s war with Iran. Even as Wisconsinites face record pain at the pump, Tiffany, who previously and callously said “affordability” was just a “buzzword,” has voted five times to keep the war going.

“Congressman Tom Tiffany can call affordability a ‘buzzword’ all he wants, but because of him families across Wisconsin are paying more every time we fill up at the pump, farmers are watching diesel prices eat into what’s left of their margins, and small business owners are watching fuel costs cut into their bottom line,” said Crowley. “Tiffany had five chances to end the war that is driving these prices up, and five times he has chosen his boss, Donald Trump, over the people he’s supposed to represent here in Wisconsin. I’m done with the excuses. This week Sarah and I will be crisscrossing the state to remind folks whose fault this gas crisis is. As governor, I’m going to work for you, Wisconsin, whether it’s the price at the pump, utility bills, or housing, we’re going to make life more affordable for all Wisconsinites.”

When it comes to the gas crisis, Tiffany isn’t just lying about his own voting record on the war that’s driving gas prices, he’s dodging responsibility for it. Last week, he said there’s nothing he could do about gas prices as governor, but he’s not just running for a job promotion – he’s a sitting congressman who has had the power to act on this crisis the whole time and instead voted to keep the war going and gas prices up. 

In addition to lying that he never voted against ending the war with Iran, Tiffany is now claiming there is nothing he can do as governor to lower gas costs even after copying Crowley’s plan to repeal a depression era gas tax law.
