MILWAUKEE, Wis. – As gas and diesel prices continue to climb throughout Wisconsin, David Crowley hammered MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany for not standing up to Donald Trump on the war with Iran. Fast forward to yesterday, and following a report that over 70% say they disapprove of the war with Iran, Tom Tiffany said, “I just believe we should be exiting Iran, that it’s time to move on.” When Tiffany said this a few months ago, he went on to vote just a few hours later to continue the war in Iran.

“Look, at the end of the day, we have to make sure that we’re lowering our costs and if Tom Tiffany wants to stand up, he needs to stand up to Donald Trump,” said Crowley. “Again, this is largely due to the war in Iran and Tom Tiffany has voted to protect this war, to protect those tariffs and we need him to answer as to why he isn’t fighting for Wisconsinites.”

Today, Wisconsin diesel prices average $6.61 across the state and the price of gas is $4.41 on average. The growing pain at the pump is being driven by MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany’s and Donald Trump’s war of choice with Iran. David Crowley’s immediate solution to bring some relief at the pump is repealing the minimum mark-up law on gas. This would currently reduce gas costs by $.40 cents per gallon, and $.56 cents for diesel.

Reporter: In January of this year, Tom Tiffany stood in front of a gas station and had a tweet about how low gas prices were. How does that tweet hold up today and how does that impact this race?

Crowley: That tweet didn’t age very well because we’re now seeing some of the largest increases in gas today. And that’s why I have a plan to actually eliminate the minimum markup law that we have on gas which is increasing the price for consumers each and every single day. And the thing about this gas tax is that it’s not supporting our small businesses or filling the potholes, this is just guaranteed profit for Big Oil. And I know it’s a popular idea because even Congressman Tom Tiffany stole my idea and is leading people to think that it is his. Look at the end of the day, we have to make sure that we’re lowering our costs and if Tom Tiffany wants to stand up, he needs to stand up to Donald Trump.
