Madison, Wis.– Discover Wisconsin, the nation’s longest-running travel & tourism TV series, explores the spiritual landmarks and natural beauty of Washington County in its newest episode, “Washington County — Spiritual Landmarks & Breathtaking Perspectives,” streaming on September 30th. This episode was created in partnership with Washington County. Hosted by Andrea Boehlke, Hana Ostapchuk, Eric Paulsen, and Apurba Banerjee, the episode explores Washington County’s landmarks and lookouts, starting at the Holy Hill Basilica and National Shrine. From Holy Hill’s summit, the hosts visit nearby attractions all visible from the iconic, spiritual landmark.
“Filming an episode focused on Holy Hill and the surrounding area seemed challenging at first glance. Spiritual landmarks haven’t exactly been the bread and butter of Discover Wisconsin over the years. But once we got into production, our team was blown away by the unique tranquility and beauty this corner of Washington County offers,” said Adam Reed, producer of Discover Wisconsin. “Holy Hill itself is a stunning, must-see destination for everyone, regardless of faith or creed, and the surrounding area is full of jaw-dropping scenery and down-to-earth people. Everyone on our crew, including all four hosts, told me they plan to go back for one reason or another, and I know I’ll be visiting again soon as well.”
Andrea begins the adventure at Holy Hill Basilica and National Shrine, where she learns more about its ministries, its significance as a spiritual landmark, and the many reasons visitors come back. She then hikes a nearby segment of the Ice Age Trail to take in the surrounding natural beauty.
Next, Hana takes a scenic drive through the Kettle Moraine landscape surrounding Holy Hill. Along the way, she discovers a variety of nearby attractions, including the Holy Hill Art Farm, Glacier Hills County Park, and Friess Lake.
Later, Eric explores Washington County’s dining scene, beginning at Fox & Hounds Restaurant & Tavern. He then visits Johnny Manhattan’s Italian Steakhouse before wrapping up the food tour at Sloppy Joe’s Saloon and Spoon.
To round out the episode, Apurba highlights the area’s outdoor recreation opportunities. Her adventure includes Heritage Trails County Park, the Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, and the Powder Hill Observation Tower for sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
You can stream the exclusive early debut on Wednesday, September 30th, at 4 p.m., available through discoverwisconsin.com and YouTube.
