Raymond, WI — Today, ER nurse and Democratic candidate for Wisconsin’s First Congressional District, Mitchell Berman, was endorsed by the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund, the latest high-profile endorsement in the race to beat incumbent Republican Bryan Steil in November.
“As a working-class ER nurse, I see every day how patients struggle to afford the medications and care they need,” said Mitchell Berman. “In Congress, I look forward to working with the New Dems to lower costs for working families, fix our broken healthcare system, and end the corruption in Washington. Together, we will flip this seat, restore real representation for southeastern Wisconsin, and make Congress work for the people.”
A union ER nurse who spent over a decade at the VA, Berman has focused his campaign on lowering the cost of living, fixing a broken healthcare system, and ending the corruption in Washington. His campaign has quickly caught national attention, with over $1 million raised from over 25,000 grassroots donors, and was recently added to the DCCC’s national “Red to Blue” list of the most competitive House races in the country.
Last week, the nonpartisan race rater Cook Political Report shifted WI-01 from “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican,” and recent polling shows the race in a dead heat.
