Universities of Wisconsin: Neenah Joint School District leaders urge students to fill out Direct Admit Wisconsin forms

Neenah, Wis. – Universities of Wisconsin and Neenah Joint School District leaders are urging students and parents in the Fox Valley to review Direct Admit offers and fill out the Direct Admit form so that students can connect with universities for fall 2027 enrollment.

Officials from the school district, UW-Green Bay, UW-Oshkosh, and the Universities of Wisconsin announced new Direct Admit letters being sent out to students at a news conference hosted at the Neenah Joint School District Performing Arts Center on Wednesday.

“Over the last several weeks, nearly 40,000 students across Wisconsin, including 3,000 in the Fox Valley, have received letters admitting them to one or more UWs,” said Universities of Wisconsin Interim President Renée Wachter. “Now it’s time for students to take the next step toward attending a UW.”

“Our success is measured by student success,” said Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents President Kyle Weatherly. “Direct Admit Wisconsin helps more young people see themselves in college, discover their potential, and pursue the goals they have for themselves and their future.”

Under Direct Admit Wisconsin, qualified, participating students entering their senior year of high school are automatically admitted to participating UWs without ever having to fill out an application. The decision is made based upon a student’s grade point average and coursework.

Nearly 40,000 students across Wisconsin, including approximately 3,000 in the Fox Valley, have received letters in recent weeks admitting them to UW universities starting in fall 2027.

UW and area school district leaders are urging students and parents to review the letters, sent by email and postal mail, and fill out the Direct Admit form through the UW admissions pathway portal to connect with the UWs they have been admitted to and are interested in attending in fall 2027. The form does not commit students to attending a UW.

“For a student who has not imagined themselves attending college, receiving an admission letter can be a powerful moment,” said Julie Edstrom, interim vice chancellor for enrollment management at UW-Oshkosh. “Direct Admit Wisconsin is more than a simpler admission process; it’s an invitation to see new possibilities. Our goal is to ensure that every student has the encouragement, information and support to explore their options and pursue a future that’s right for them.”

“Access to education is at the core of the mission of UW-Green Bay, and since pioneering the Direct Admit program in 2023, we have empowered students from around the state to rise boldly to their full potential,” said Jennifer Jones, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management at UW-Green Bay. “The Direct Admit program lets students throughout the state know that they can pursue education after high school that’s valuable, close-to-home and forward-thinking, no matter who they are or where they are from. The opportunity removes barriers for everyone who wants to learn.”
