GREENDALE, Wis. — United States Senator Tammy Baldwin today announced her endorsement of Ben Brist, the Democratic candidate running in Assembly District 61, which covers all of Hales Corners and Greendale, as well as parts of Franklin, Greenfield, and Milwaukee.
The southwest Milwaukee County-area district is viewed as one of the most competitive legislative races in the state that could determine which party controls the Assembly for the next two years. Brist, a United States Army Veteran and sixth-generation Wisconsinite, is running because he believes state government can and should work better for everyday people.
“Ben Brist has spent his life answering the call to serve, from West Point to leading paratroopers in the 82nd Airborne to coming home to Wisconsin to fight for working families,” said Senator Baldwin. “Ben knows what it means to put people over politics. He’ll fight for our public schools, affordable health care, and the union rights that built Wisconsin’s middle class. I’m proud to endorse Ben for the State Assembly, and I know he’ll bring the same sense of duty to Madison that he carried in uniform.”
“I am honored to be endorsed by our terrific United States Senator Tammy Baldwin. As a member of the Assembly, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with Senator Baldwin to make life more affordable for the people of Wisconsin and stand up to the Trump Administration’s cuts to health care, food assistance, and cost-raising policies – something our current state representative has failed to do,” said Brist. “We’re fortunate to have public servants like Tammy working on our behalf in Washington. Like Tammy, I’ll show up, work hard, and deliver results that improve people’s lives.”
