MADISON, WI – On Saturday, the Hopium Chronicles podcast released an interview with Democratic Leaders Senator Dianne Hesselbein and Representative Greta Neubauer discussing Democratic ambitions to flip Wisconsin’s Senate and Assembly for the first time in over a decade. The legislators spoke about Democrats’ platform of building a Wisconsin where families can afford to live, young people can get ahead, and children can receive the education they deserve.
Democratic Leader State Senator Dianne Hesselbein on the Hopium Chronicles Podcast:
- “So two years ago, we had 11 Democrat state senators out of 33. We couldn’t even help with the governor’s veto. It was just very demoralizing and very sad. But two years ago, with these fair maps, we went from 11 to 15. We flipped four seats on that night in Wisconsin, when Tammy Baldwin won, but also Donald Trump won. So that was kind of a sea change for us.”
- “But we are so ready. We finally have a chance for the first time to get a trifecta. And Leader Neubauer and I are so excited. We finally want to be able to pass a budget that we all believe in to make sure that people have their rights, making sure we fund K-12 education”.
- “We’ve got billionaires donating to the Republican Party, into the Republican Assembly, into the Republican Senate. We cannot even begin to tell you how much money they are throwing at us right now because they are so afraid they are going to be losing the majority.”
- “There are so many things that we need to do in the state of Wisconsin, not just undoing all the bad stuff that Tom Tiffany has done, but honestly, moving Wisconsin forward in a way that everybody can afford to be here, live here and thrive.”
- “We are working really hard. One of them, Jenna Jacobson, she is running kind of in the Southwest area. She is taking on a co-chair of joint finance, a Republican who’s been around for a long time, but she and her team have knocked on over 16,000 doors.”
- “The motto for Wisconsin is forward. And we have not been moving in that direction for a very long time.”
