MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has released an initial draft of its next Turkey Management Plan and is seeking public input on the draft now through Nov. 20, 2026.
The public is encouraged to review the draft plan and share their thoughts via the online comment tool. The DNR will review and consider feedback submitted during the comment period while preparing the final draft of the plan.
Once the DNR has reviewed all public input, staff will revise the draft plan as necessary and present another draft plan to the Natural Resources Board for final approval.
DNR To Host Open Houses On Plan
The DNR will host a series of open houses on the proposed management plan for the public to learn about the direction of turkey management and the changes made since the last public input period. Attendees can ask DNR staff questions about the plan’s updates.
Open houses will take place in three in-person locations and one virtually. The open house in La Crosse, Wisconsin will take place on Monday, Oct. 12. The open house in Merrill, Wisconsin will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the open house in Appleton, Wisconsin will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 14. A virtual open house will also be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, for those who cannot attend the in-person sessions.
