House Majority PAC has launched a pair of ads attacking 3rd CD U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden over healthcare votes and campaign contributions.
AdImpact has tracked over $1 million worth of spending by the group in the district since the Aug. 11 primary so far. The addition marks four different creatives from the group opposing Van Orden, who is up against Cooke in a 2024 rematch for the 3rd CD.
The first 30-second spot, set in a swamp, claims “swampy Derrick Van Orden is too corrupt for Wisconsin.”
The narrator says Van Orden has taken “nearly $500,000 in campaign cash from healthcare special interests,” and he cast the deciding vote to cut Medicare, “making our healthcare more expensive.”
The other 30-second spot, also mentioned that Van Orden was “the deciding vote to cut Medicare” and referenced the campaign contributions.
The ad says as a result of Van Orden’s voting record, people are dealing with increased premiums, copays and out-of-pocket costs for healthcare. The narrator also says Van Orden opposed a law to cap monthly insulin costs.
The ad ends with the narrator saying, “the system is corrupted, and Derrick Van Orden made it worse.”
