A new ad from 7th CD GOP candidate Michael Alfonso attacks Dem rival Fred Clark as a “deadbeat dad.”

A six-figure ad buy, the spot will run in Wausau, Minneapolis, Duluth, La Crosse, Madison and Marquette, Michigan media markets on broadcast, cable and streaming, according to an Alfonso campaign spokesperson.

Alfonso posted the 30-second spot on X Wednesday morning.

“Fred Clark has a secret: Clark was a deadbeat dad, forced to pay child support,” the narrator says.

A judge in March 2011 ordered Clark to pay $6,500 in back child support; he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel at the time he had done so by that June.

The narrator then recounts a 2011 incident where Clark, then a state lawmaker, was recorded saying he felt like “smacking… around” a woman who hung up on him when he made a campaign call.

“We deserve better than Fred Clark,” the narrator says. “Michael Alfonso knows the struggles families are facing,” the narrator continues, adding that Alfonso will fight to lower taxes, tame inflation, and keep “good-paying jobs” in Wisconsin.

The ad is the campaign’s first major media buy since August, where Alfonso emerged as the top candidate in a five-way GOP primary.
