Eau Claire, Wis.. — On Monday, October 12th, the Eau Claire City Council heard public comment from more than a dozen residents on a resolution introduced by council member Serrano and Miller supporting Eau Claire election officials, affirming trust in our election process, and defending a safe and fair election in 2026. The resolution was written in response to concerns brought to the city council by members of GROWW (GrassRoots Organizing Western Wisconsin) earlier this fall. It will be voted on today, Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

GROWW members have organized throughout western Wisconsin this summer and fall to raise concerns about the upcoming November 2026 election.

“The U.S. Constitution gives power to ‘We the People.’ We’re deeply concerned about attempts by the federal government to silence voters and sabotage the outcome of our elections,” said Chris Hambuch-Boyle, a GROWW member, member of Eau Claire County Hands Off Our Vote, and City of Eau Claire resident. “The will of Wisconsin voters must be respected. Local grassroots organizing and city and county action can help defend against federal overreach.”

Across the country, reports of federal election interference are surging and point to credible concerns that the Trump administration may attempt to unfairly influence the outcomes of the election. Donald Trump, his family, and the wealthy people associated with him have made billions since his election in 2024.  Residents worry that the President is trying to use the power of the office to sabotage election outcomes and silence  American voters so they can continue to enrich themselves.

Members of  GROWW are calling on local elected leaders to stand up publicly against federal election overreach and to help keep the power in the hands of voters. This week’s resolution in front of the Eau Claire City Council, if approved, will send a signal to Eau Claire voters that their local leaders have their back.

“Wisconsinites are not standing by hoping someone else will end this corruption or defend our vote. We’re organizing with our neighbors, and together, we can help ensure that power remains in the hands of Wisconsin voters and emerge from Election Day ready to create the changes our communities deserve, like more affordable healthcare, safer housing, and cleaner drinking water,” said Kate Felton, GROWW organizer and City of Eau Claire resident.
