MADISON, WI — A new Heartland Post piece is calling for scrutiny of Community Advocates, the Milwaukee nonprofit employing David Crowley’s wife, after reviewing financial records showing six-figure leadership salaries and substantial public funding.
The piece cites 2024 filings listing more than $502,000 in executive compensation. It also highlights Milwaukee County’s rental assistance partnership with the organization and unanswered questions about potential conflicts of interest.
“Wisconsin families deserve to know who is watching their tax dollars,” said WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming. “David Crowley approved a public contract with his wife’s employer. He owes taxpayers a clear explanation of what he disclosed, what safeguards were in place, and how that money was overseen. Public accountability should never take a back seat to political connections.”
Community Advocates has said Crowley approved the contract but did not influence the ERA2 funding decision. Executive salaries alone do not establish wrongdoing, but taxpayers deserve transparency about compensation, contracts, and oversight.
