Madison, WI — Later today, WISN 12 is hosting the first and only gubernatorial debate, where David Crowley and Tom Tiffany will discuss Wisconsin voters’ top concerns. As we prepare for what may come later today, Wisconsin voters are listening for a few key issues in today’s debate.
On Cost of Living and Energy Prices:
Trump’s Iran War has cost the average family in Wisconsin an extra $788 at the pump, with no end in sight. And thanks to the war, Wisconsin hit an all-time record for diesel prices, hurting already struggling farms. Tiffany has voted for the war five times.
Between higher gas prices, utility bills, and tariffs, Trump and Tiffany have cost the average Wisconsin family an extra $2,035 since January 2025. By the end of 2026, that total could grow to $3,103.
A recent Marquette poll found inflation and cost-of-living are the leading issues for Wisconsin voters this election.
On Data Centers:
While Tiffany has tried to label himself as the anti-data center candidate, his voting record shows something else. Tiffany voted for billions in tax breaks intended for mega-corporations developing data centers, voted to fast-track them past community objections, and even to ban Wisconsin from passing its own guardrails.
Tiffany has referred to data centers as an “exciting new technology,” and as necessary to prevent outsourcing to China.
Tiffany has also attempted to link his data center platform with his anti-clean energy stance, claiming clean energy developments will harm Wisconsin farmland, instead of acknowledging the real economic benefits for Wisconsin farmers and rural communities.
