WAUSAU, Wis. – 15 county sheriffs from across Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District are endorsing Michael Alfonso in his campaign for Congress, citing his support for public safety, border security, and standing with the men and women who protect Northern Wisconsin communities.
Meanwhile, Alfonso’s Democrat opponent in WI-7, Fred Clark, has taken a soft-on-crime approach.
After Joe Biden threw open the border and allowed murderers, rapists, and drug dealers into our country, Fred Clark referred to brave federal law enforcement officers tasked with removing illegal aliens as an “occupying army.”
Clark is also attached at the hip to far-left extreme Democrats who support abolishing law enforcement agencies and domestic terrorist organizations like Antifa.
Clark has voted down measures that Wisconsinites can use to keep themselves safe. He voted against Wisconsin’s Castle Doctrine legislation, which gives someone stronger legal protection when defending themselves against a person who is unlawfully and forcibly entering—or has unlawfully and forcibly entered—their home, vehicle, or business. Additionally, Clark does not have the temperament to serve WI-7 in Congress. He threatened violence against his own female constituents, saying he wanted to “smack” her around because she didn’t support his campaign.
“St. Croix County sits right on the I-94 corridor, and my deputies see what comes across that border every day: fentanyl, meth, and the crime that follows them. We need a partner in Washington who will back law enforcement with resources and not just words. Michael Alfonso understands that keeping families safe is the first job of government. He has taken the time to listen to the men and women who wear the badge, and I know he will stand with us. I’m proud to endorse Michael Alfonso for Congress.”-St. Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson
“Sawyer County welcomes thousands of visitors every year, and our deputies work hard to keep residents and guests safe. Michael Alfonso will stand firmly with law enforcement, hold offenders accountable, and respect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. He has my endorsement.” -Sawyer County Sheriff Doug Mrotek
“I endorse Michael Alfonso, and trust him to support the men and women of law enforcement in the rural Northwoods.”-Vilas County Sheriff Gerard Ritter
“In the Northwoods, our deputies cover huge stretches of territory with limited staff, and backup can be a long way off. Michael Alfonso will fight for the funding, equipment, and recruitment support rural departments need to keep our communities safe. He has my full support.”-Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman
“The foundation of healthy communities across northern Wisconsin is public safety. Strong families, growing businesses and good schools aren’t possible without the work of our dedicated law enforcement, fire and EMS professionals. We’ve watched Democrat leaders talk about defunding the police and going easy on repeat offenders, and we’ve seen the results of these reckless statements and actions in communities across the country. Michael Alfonso will back the men and women who wear the badge, will work with law enforcement on common sense legislation that keeps us safe, and will hold criminals accountable. That’s why I’m endorsing him for WI-7.” -Marathon County Sheriff Chad Billeb
“In central Wisconsin, public safety means having enough deputies on the road, getting drugs out of our communities, and making sure the people who protect us have the tools to do the job. Michael Alfonso knows these communities, and he respects the work law enforcement does. He will fight to secure the border, stop the flow of fentanyl into rural Wisconsin, and make sure Washington supports local law enforcement instead of second-guessing it. Michael Alfonso has my full support for Congress.” –Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker
Michael Alfonso has also been endorsed by:
- Jodi Kummet, Barron County Sheriff
- Kerry L. Kirn, Clark County Sheriff
- Jeffery Marvin, Forest County Sheriff
- Paul Samardich, Iron County Sheriff
- Mark Westen, Langlade County Sheriff
- Brent Waak, Polk County Sheriff
- Phil Grassmann, Rusk County Sheriff
- Corey Dassow, Taylor County Sheriff
- Wesley Revels, Monroe County Sheriff
- Milwaukee Police Association
“A top priority for any government is keeping its citizens safe, and our brave men and women in uniform answer that call every day to protect Northern Wisconsin. They put their lives on the line to defend our communities, uphold the law, and keep our families safe. In Congress, I will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our law enforcement officers, fight for the resources they need, and ensure they have a strong ally in Washington. They have our backs, and I’ll always have theirs.”-Michael Alfonso
