JANESVILLE, WI — Reese Wood, current Chair of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin, officially registered as a write-in candidate for governor on Thursday, October 29, at approximately 1 p.m., ahead of Wisconsin’s November 3 general election.
Wood previously considered running under the banner Grow Wisconsin 2026, but postponed those plans due to state employment restrictions and family responsibilities.
After resigning from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on August 14, Wood returned to private-sector employment on August 17.
“After years of public service, I’m now working alongside everyday Wisconsinites in the private sector. I understand the challenges working families face because I’m living them,” Wood said.
The campaign emerged following discussions among Wisconsin Libertarians and offers a libertarian alternative to the major-party candidates.
“I cannot personally support either Tom Tiffany or David Crowley. Rather than settle for candidates who don’t represent my principles, I’ve decided to offer voters another choice.”
Wood acknowledges the unusually short campaign period and that many Wisconsinites have already voted.
“This campaign is for those who haven’t voted yet and are still looking for an alternative. I have no intention of raising or spending campaign money. I’m simply asking voters to consider another option.”
Although Wood serves as LPWI Chair, this is a personal libertarian campaign and is not endorsed or sponsored by the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin.
Wood previously ran for Wisconsin State Assembly and Janesville City Council.
