MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Nate Silver’s FLIPR 2026 House Forecast ranked WI-01 the most competitive House race in the United States. Momentum in WI-01 continues to move in Democrats’ favor. This ranking follows Silver’s classification earlier this week placing WI-01 as fourth most competitive U.S. House Race, and Fox News’ shift in their ranking of the district from “Lean R” to “Toss-Up”.
“Bryan Steil drew national attention during his most recent in-person town hall back in July 2025 for the strong criticism he received from his constituents for consistently supporting Trump’s extreme cost-raising policies,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Rachel La Due. “Over the past year, while people turned their attention to more historically competitive seats across the nation, Wisconsinites in the First Congressional never abated in their criticism of Steil or their faith that a Republican gerrymandered and long considered ‘safe’ Republican seat could flip for Democrats. Wisconsin’s First Congressional District being classified as the most competitive House race in the country confirms what Wisconsin Democrats have long known to be true: the district is flippable, and every vote matters.”
