MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker, Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, Wisconsin’s adjutant general, and senior Wisconsin National Guard leaders will join families and friends to welcome home approximately 75 Wisconsin Army National Guard Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation during a 1:45 p.m. ceremony Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Army Aviation Support Facility #2, 1950 Pearson St., Madison.
The Madison-based unit returns after a nine-month deployment to the Middle East as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, where it provided UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter airlift assets and maintenance support personnel to their area of operations and specialized in transporting personnel throughout the region.
The 147th left Wisconsin in April 2017 enroute to the Middle East, and the unit arrived back on U.S. soil earlier this month after landing at Fort Hood, Texas, where it spent two weeks completing post-mobilization requirements.
