Evers calls for lowering costs, investing in education, passing new gun laws in State of State

Dem Gov. Tony Evers in his State of the State called for steps to lower costs for Wisconsinites, from eliminating the sales tax on over-the-counter medications to capping copays for insulin and providing $500 million in state funds to make childcare more affordable. The latest fundraising reports show the Dem Party raised nearly $2.8 million between Oct. 22 — the close of the last reporting period — and Dec. 31. It spent $4.2 million and finished the year with $650,569 in the bank. The state GOP, meanwhile, reported $2.4 million in receipts over that period and $3 million in disbursements. The Republican Party finished 2024 with $673,257 cash on hand.
