GOP U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany says he’s considering several questions as he weighs a run for guv in 2026, including where he can do the best for the state of Wisconsin and if he’s the best Republican to run.

GOP U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who has been considering a run for guv, took a series of shots at Dem Gov. Tony Evers today in a speech to Republican activists, telling them 2026 will tell the story of whether Wisconsin will be one of the “winners.”

The Oshkosh Republican often delivers a dose of reality to party activists when he addresses the state convention, and he did again today as he went over what he called a “crushing” defeat in the state Supreme Court race this spring.

Republican activists will vote this weekend on whether to call for the state party to create a conflict of interest policy that would ban members of the executive committee from advocating for or representing “the interests of any competing organization.”

Hannah Dugan’s supporters have created a legal defense fund to fight what the group calls an “unprecedented attack on the independent judiciary by the federal government” as the judge fights charges she interfered with immigration officers.

“But as I always tell people, as frustrating as that was to me too, Donald Trump’s president this year, and, oh, by the way, he will be next year, the year after that, and the year after that,” Schimming told WisPolitics in an interview ahead of the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s state convention this weekend.
