We need to reinvent the Wisconsin economy for stronger growth, and part of that challenge relates to the need to reorganize the Universities of Wisconsin System.

Redistricting means dozens of lawmakers and potential first-time candidates have decisions to make.

Stats raise questions about gridlock and political posturing.

Wisconsin voters approved two constitutional amendments—54 percent voted to ban private funding in our elections, and nearly 59 percent voted to ban outside election workers. Those dual victories were major achievements in the fight for clean elections in Wisconsin, but neither would have happened without the bravery of dozens of legislators and the backing of the people of Wisconsin.

Almost a third of Black men in purple states say they intend to vote for Donald Trump. But Biden is even losing support among Black women voters. That’s remarkable for a man who elevated the first Black woman to be his vice president and the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

Fiscal conservatism and commitment to limited government are out of fashion in today’s GOP. So is free trade and internationalism in foreign affairs. Old-fashioned Republicans who cling to these principles are dismissed as RINOs and drummed out of the party.

It must be one of our top priorities as a nation to seek ways to address those who think the threat of violence is a valid political solution to their perceived grievances. The Republican Party must again take seriously their role in American politics.

Push for 36% salary hikes echoes mentality behind infamous county pension plan.

I lend my support to the Capital One-Discover merger and urge the Biden Administration, to recognize its potential to benefit small businesses, particularly those owned by minorities and women.

UW-L offers exceptional value to students and families. Despite the modest tuition increase for next year (about $350 per student), the in-state annual cost to attend UW-L will be approximately $18,000 — including room and board — which is comparable to or lower than most other Midwest universities.

Those who are able to afford high-powered lawyers to take advantage of every loophole in the tax code have creatively found ways to avoid the taxes that most of the rest of America pays.

There will be another liberal candidate for the high court in 2025, and that candidate will, if recent history is an indication, win the race to replace the retiring justice.

Trump and his acolytes want to take America backward.

My question today is why likeable, center-left Democratic politicians such as Baldwin and Gov. Tony Evers can be so popular and win reelection by comfortable margins, and yet Biden, whom you could describe in the same way, struggles.

Biden’s loan scheme doesn’t forgive debt but transfers it — and doesn’t do anything to fix the problem.

Some in the MAGA conspiracy have rallied to RFK Jr.’s flag and pumped large sums into his SuperPAC in hopes that the Kennedy name will draw votes away from President Biden come November.
