Racine Police Department: Fatal shooting 600 block N. Memorial Drive

Contact: Lt. Dave Wohlgemuth (262) 635-7722 On Sunday, 05/07/2017, at 5:09 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of North Memorial Drive for a report of a shooting. Officers located a male party in his 20’s who had been shot. The victim was transported to Ascension Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Harry Thomas Canady, Jr., who was 20 years old and a resident of Racine. DWD will drop automated phone system for initial UI claims

The state will drop its automated phone system to file initial unemployment claims May 24, DWD announced today. After that, those claims will have to be filed using a computer, tablet or smartphone. Sheriff Clarke: Pedestrian dies after jumping in front of semi-truck

Contact: Fran McLaughlin (414) 278-5226 Milwaukee, WI – Last night, at 9:40 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash on I-94 northbound near the Racine County line.  Witnesses indicated a pedestrian was struck after the man suddenly jumped directly in front of a semi-truck.   A vehicle traveling behind the truck also struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. All northbound traffic was diverted off the freeway during the crash investigation, and reopened at 4:00 a.m. The man’s identity has not yet been confirmed.  The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation and Patrol divisions.
