The GOP sulfide mining bill is expected to see at least one amendment when it’s taken up on the Assembly floor later today. Bill managers say the changes are expected to shore up Republican Senate support for the bill following co-author Sen. Tom Tiffany telling WisPolitics.com earlier this week he was one vote short. An initial draft of the amendment from fellow co-author Rep. Rob Hutton’s office showed four different changes, including delaying the bill’s implementation for six months after the bill’s signed to give local governments time to evaluate their own mining ordinances. President Trump: Statement from the President on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

Statement from the President on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act I applaud the House Ways and Means Committee for introducing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which is another important step toward providing massive tax relief for the American people. My tax reform priorities have been the same since day one: bringing tax cuts for hardworking, middle-income Americans; eliminating unfair loopholes and deductions; and slashing business taxes so employers can create jobs, raise wages, and dominate their competition around the world. The policies of my Administration have already helped to drive the stock market to all-time highs and the

Wisconsin Budget Project: New Republican tax plan would still be a windfall for millionaires

Jon Peacock, director of the Wisconsin Budget Project, issued the following statement today in response to the release of the House Republican tax cut plan: The federal tax cut plan unveiled today by House Republicans would provide a massive windfall to corporations and the wealthiest Americans, while hurting some taxpayers and substantially increasing the federal deficit. Modest revisions to the original plan do not change the fact that most of the proposed tax cuts will enrich the top one percent of Americans, while many people will get little or no benefit. One of the biggest problems with this plan is
