MADISON, Wis. (Thursday, November 16, 2017) — Madison Public Library Foundation will hold Give Back on Giving Tuesday, a family-friendly party supporting the new Pinney Library, from 5–7 p.m. Tuesday, November 28.

Giving Tuesday, a global celebration of the spirit of giving, is an opportunity to support the organizations you care about and make a difference in your local community.

The event will include a cash bar, live music, children’s activities, and food and drinks available for purchase. Local band The Mugs —Tim Haub, Tom Dehlinger, Frankie Lee, Chuck Bayuk and Michael Gruber—will perform a variety of blues, country, rock and folk songs throughout the evening. The event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $10 at the door. All donations will benefit The Capital Campaign for a New Pinney Library.

“We’ve had great success holding an event on Giving Tuesday, rather than just asking for online donations and sending email appeals,” said Madison Public Library Foundation Executive Director Jenni Collins. “One of our libraries’ functions is to serve as community hubs and bring people together, so an event in support of the new Pinney Library allows library lovers the opportunity to connect and celebrate this new facility that we’ll be breaking ground for early next year.”

Thanks to a donation from east side resident Jill Ball, all Pinney campaign gifts up to $10,000 will be matched 100 percent from Giving Tuesday through December 3.This means a gift on Giving Tuesday and the week following it has double the impact. The foundation will be accepting donations online, by mail or in person at Give Back on Giving Tuesday. Donate online at mplfoundation.org/donate.

The new Pinney Library, which will open in 2019 in the Royster Corners development near the library’s current location, will be double its current size. Amenities include a large children’s area, improved technology and a drive-up book drop. The foundation thanks the Harmony Bar for hosting the event.
