Racine WI – Racine County Republican Party wishes to congratulate two Party members on their distinguished awards received on Saturday March 25, 2017. First is Barbara Scherrer of Burlington who won he Alvan E. Bovay Award which honors a uniquely deserving individual from each Wisconsin Congressional District, in recognition of his or her outstanding dedication to the Republican Party. This award is given to an outstanding individual that volunteered for the good of the Republican Party.

Barbara received three letters of personal recommendation from Speaker Robin Vos, Representative Samantha Kerkman, and former GOP Chairman, Bill Folk. Barbara has run the Republican Headquarters during the election cycle, used her home as a yard sign distribution site, and stayed committed to helping all local, state or federal candidates over the years.  She has been a member of the Republican Party for roughly 40 years. She served on the Racine County GOP Board of Directors for about a decade, and was one of the first women elected to the Burlington City Council.

Secondly, we commend Kelly Wishau on winning volunteer of the year – the Anita Hunt award. Anita Hunt was a Racine County  Republican activist in the 70’s and 80’s. She was executive secretary of the Racine county GOP for many years, she was a Congressional Secretary to Congressman Henry Schadeburg of the 10th district, ran for the state assembly in 1975.

Kelly is rather new to the Racine County GOP, having formerly been an active part of the Tampa Bay GOP.  She is a constant fixture at our Victory Center, doing everything from promoting candidates to creating imaginative decorations, to mopping the floor. Kelly maintains our data base, and has recently taken on task of the Racine County GOP Treasurer.

Congratulations again, to both Barbara Scherrer and Kelly Wishau!
