WASHINGTON—Today, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) released the following statement announcing that Matt Hoffmann, longtime aide and current Assistant to the Speaker for Policy, will be leaving his office to serve as the policy director for the Senate Finance Committee. Hoffmann has served Ryan since 2006 in different capacities within the personal office, the Budget and Ways and Means committees, and the office of the Speaker.
“It has been an honor to work with Matt over the past decade. He joined my personal office as a legislative assistant in 2006, and I did all I could to ensure he stayed close to our journey since. From the Budget Committee to Ways and Means, and now in the Speaker’s office, Matt has played a major hand in the work I’m most proud of. He’s helped forge key bipartisan solutions. And he’s been a tireless advocate for patient-centered policies to improve our broken health care system. I am immensely proud of not only his exemplary policy work, but more importantly, of the man he’s become. He’s a devoted husband, son, brother—and a great friend to many, myself included. While we will miss Matt dearly, the Senate Finance Committee will be well-served to have him lead their policy operation. For Matt’s public service and friendship, I will be forever grateful.”
