(Fond du Lac, WI) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) today released his second television advertisement of the season. The 30-second spot discusses the opioid epidemic in America and highlights Grothman’s work to stop it, as well as his battle with drug companies, who are overmedicating and overcharging patients.

Featured in the piece are two of Grothman’s bills designed to fight the opioid epidemic. The first is the Improving the Federal Response to Families Impacted by Substance Use Disorder Act, which has already passed the House and Senate with bipartisan support, and is waiting on the President’s desk to be signed. This bill would make it easier for federal agencies to coordinate with local governments and police in their effort to prevent and stop opioid abuse. The second is the Responsible Opioid Prescription Act. This bill would limit the initial amount of opioids prescribed to a patient to a seven-day supply, and each subsequent prescription to 30-day supplies.

“I’m Glenn Grothman, and I won’t take a dime from pharmaceutical companies. That’s because here in America, we consume 80 percent of the world’s pain killers, with only six percent of the world’s population. I introduced legislation restricting the amount of pills per prescription. And created a new anti-opioid task force in Congress. American medical costs are way too high, and one more grieving Wisconsin family is one too many. That’s why I fight for you, rather than the drug companies.” Said Grothman
