Grafton – Hours after the Department of Justice refused to defend key provisions in the Affordable Care Act that protect those with pre-existing conditions, Representative Glenn Grothman voted along party lines last night to slash Medicare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) by nearly $7 Billion. This is just the latest instance where Grothman has voted to take away health coverage from Wisconsin families, raise premiums, and make it harder for seniors to get the coverage they need.

“At a time when people are more concerned than ever about the cost of their health care coverage, Representative Grothman’s vote to cut Medicare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program hurts seniors and Wisconsin families,” said non-profit leader and business executive Dan Kohl. “Just as bad, Grothman sits silent while this administration guts protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Healthcare is a fundamental right and we must fight to make it more affordable for all Americans, particularly our children and seniors. It’s time to put partisanship aside so that people come ahead of politics.”
