Friends of Judge Murphy will report raising over $40,000 in contributions on its January 2018 Campaign Finance Report. The figure, which only includes activity from October through December, is the most amount of money ever raised in support of an Eau Claire County Circuit Court candidate.
Michael McHorney, Treasurer of Friends of Judge Murphy, said, “The significant support of time, talent, and treasure Judge Murphy has amassed in less than 10 weeks is nothing short of incredible. While we have not yet reached our final goal, with nearly 150 individual financial contributors and over $40,000 in total contributions, we are well on the way to having the resources necessary to communicate Judge Murphy’s positive vision for a more efficient and responsive judiciary to the voters of Eau Claire County.”
In compliance with judicial ethics, the Friends of Judge Murphy campaign is committed to running a campaign free of political party influences. Judge Murphy believes the judiciary must be a venue where the rule of law governs, regardless of political affiliation. Accordingly, the Friends of Judge Murphy campaign will not use Democratic or Republican party office space or resources to further its campaign.
In response to the fundraising report, Judge Murphy stated, “Eau Claire is going through a generational revitalization and I work each day to keep Eau Claire safe and prosperous. I am honored to have the support of so many friends and community members who believe in my ability to have a positive impact on our community. ”
Prior to serving our community as Branch 5 judge, Judge Murphy was in private practice and is a graduate of Eau Claire Regis High School, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and he received his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law. Judge Murphy resides in Eau Claire with his wife and two children.
