Tonight, Tammy Baldwin and Leah Vukmir faced off in Wisconsin’s first U.S. Senate debate of the 2018 election cycle. During the debate, Leah Vukmir dodged questions on protections for pre-existing conditions, equal pay, and gun violence. In response, NextGen Wisconsin State Youth Director George Olufosoye released the following statement:

“Tonight, Leah Vukmir sided with Donald Trump, corporate interests, and the NRA over the interests and values of young Wisconsinites. Vukmir often dodged questions entirely and misled voters on her record, saying she would ‘fall in front of a truck’ before letting people with pre-existing conditions go without coverage, while in reality, she supports repealing the Affordable Care Act in full. Tammy Baldwin spoke directly to our generation’s economic concerns and our frustration over Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and we are going to vote to re-elect her on November 6.”
