Rep. Grothman campaign: Responds to false Kohl ad

(Fond du Lac, WI) – The Grothman for Congress campaign released the following statement Monday, following the release of Democrat Dan Kohl’s recent television ad. The ad, containing false statements, drew a response from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) after it featured unauthorized use of the group’s name to promote their false claims.

“Congressman Glenn Grothman has a proven track record of protecting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, while taking on drug companies in order to lower costs for patients. It’s truly shocking that Dan Kohl will politicize AARP and throw facts aside in his quest for power,” said Campaign Manager Tim Svoboda.

The below statement was released by AARP, reaffirming that the group has no connection to the Kohl campaign and does not endorse his candidacy.

“AARP did not authorize or approve ads that are currently being broadcast in the 6th Congressional District race,” said AARP Wisconsin State Director Sam Wilson. “As the mid-term elections approach, AARP is vigilantly monitoring any unauthorized use of its name or logo in any political advertising.” (AARP Statement 10/5/2018)

The letter continues,

AARP urges all candidates to address voters’ concerns on issues like Medicare, Social Security, prescription drugs, Medicaid, and caregiving. (AARP Statement 10/5/2018)

Congressman Glenn Grothman has always been an advocate for protecting Seniors’ rights. He has introduced legislation reaffirming the eligibility age of Medicare stay at 65 years old, as well as a bill to strengthen anti-age discrimination laws.
