DE PERE – State Rep. André Jacque (R-De Pere) announced his candidacy today for the recently vacated 1st State Senate district, which will be filled during the 2018 fall election.
“I am proud to have led and gotten results on a wide array of issues of importance to my constituents in the 2nd Assembly District, from defending the right to life and human dignity to regulatory reform and eliminating barriers to economic development, cutting costs for taxpayers and local government, attacking government waste and public benefit fraud, honoring our veterans, and cracking down on domestic violence, human trafficking and drunk driving,” said Rep. Jacque. He added, “Running for the 1st Senate District offers the possibility to serve a greater number of my neighbors, to be a more effective voice for them – there is a lot more work to be done.”
Jacque has already been endorsed for the 1st Senate District seat by a distinguished list of community leaders, including campaign treasurer and longtime former State Senator from the 1st District, Alan Lasee, former 1st Assembly District Representative Garey Bies, former WI 8th Congressional District Congressman Toby Roth and current WI 6th Congressional District Congressman Glenn Grothman.
“I’m very excited to hear that André Jacque is running for the state senate. André has been a longtime ally of mine during our time together in the state legislature and a champion for the conservative cause even before then,” said Congressman Grothman.
Rep. Jacque has previously been honored as Legislator of the Year by a number of groups, including Wisconsin Family Council, Pro-Life Wisconsin, the Greater Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and was a recipient of the prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the State Legislative Achievement Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform. He serves on the Board of the WI Council on Domestic Abuse, the WI Small Business Environmental Council, Green Bay Area Crimestoppers, and Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin.
