Combined Locks, WI – Representative Ron Tusler (R – Harrison) released the following statement regarding today’s event at Midwest Paper Group:

“I would like to thank Governor Walker for coming to Midwest Paper Group in Combined Locks to celebrate Midwest Paper Group’s decision to convert this facility into a new and successful asset to Combined Locks and the Fox Valley.

“A few years ago, 600 employees at Appleton Coated were at risk of losing their jobs. As a result of the leadership and fortitude of Midwest Paper Group’s leadership, including Doug Osterberg, and Kyle Putzstuck, an exciting conversion is taking place. The new facility will employ 350 skilled laborers and move Appleton Coated, now known as Midwest Paper Group, into the future. They will be producing packaging materials including white, glossy one-sided cardboard for packaging purposes for an array of uses including online sales shipping. Midwest Paper Group has highlighted its role in the future of online sales, which I believe has a long future in our country and the world.

“I admire and appreciate Governor Walker, WEDC Secretary Mark Hogan, and the Wisconsin Paper Council, for their hands on role in promoting the success of Midwest Paper’s conversion into cardboard packaging. I look forward to working with Midwest Paper Group next legislative session on ways to strengthen and promote the paper industry in Wisconsin.”
