MADISON – State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa (D – Milwaukee) released the following statement today regarding Milwaukee Sheriff Richard Schmidt’s offensive comments:
“Milwaukee is a welcoming and progressive city that I am proud to call home. Sheriff Schmidt’s comments on domestic violence survivors and marriage equality fly in the face of Milwaukee values. I fully support law enforcement’s role in protecting the most vulnerable, and I’m appalled that our sheriff would express these views.
“Just like Sheriff Clarke before him, Sheriff Schmidt needs to take his regressive and intolerant views and leave his office.”
