Successful pediatrician to leverage medical experience to address healthcare policy, opioid epidemic, gun violence

Mother of six and first-time candidate first ever woman to run for Wisconsin 5th District seat

WASHINGTON – With the August 14 Wisconsin primaries just weeks away, Republican Women for Progress (RWFP) has named long-time Waukesha County pediatrician Dr. Jennifer Hoppe Vipond to its 2018 Women to Watch list.

Vipond, a mother of six and first-time candidate for office, is the first ever woman to run for Wisconsin’s 5th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Having served residents of the 5th district for 25 years as a pediatrician, Dr. Vipond plans to leverage her medical experience to address the critical issues of healthcare policy, ending the opioid epidemic, and reducing gun violence.

“Jennifer Hoppe Vipond will be the constituent-focused representative the people of Wisconsin’s 5th District deserve,” Ariel Hill-Davis, Policy Director of Republican Women for Progress, said. “Her experience as a mother and healthcare provider gives her a common sense, solutions-oriented view of the challenges facing Congress. Jennifer is ready to work with members of both parties to improve quality of life for Wisconsin residents just as she did in her medical practice.”

RWFP’s Women to Watch series highlights Republican women running for office in 2018 who are committed to working through the legislative process in a bipartisan way in order to create effective policy at the local, state, and national levels.
